Bonjour!
Lisa here.
We decided to rent a car for the week before school starts. This has given us a lot more freedom, and a lot more chances to get ourselves into some uncomfortable situations. Really the name of this blog should be: UncomfortableWards. Let's just say there has been a lot of firsts. For instance when we we went to the pool. As we walked into the room the lifeguards stopped Bob and the boys and told them that their trunks were not allowed in the pool. This is because they could potentially be worn for other sports and therefore dirty. They had to borrow some speedos. This picture is per request from Phaedra.
In our petit voiture we have explored the Beaujolais countryside, gone to the Savoie region (a lofty stones throw from Switzerland)
, and the grand city of Lyon.
Next week, soit le reentre, school starts. All of France has been vacationing hard this month. A lot of things are closed until tomorrow. This means the kids will start school and Bob will have to figure out how to get himself to work. Wish us Bon Chance, this is the other chausseure that has to drop eventually.
And now les photos:

Turns out that they have cute cats in France too. |

The town of Oingt, pronounced Wah. "The most beautiful town in France" I've seen this said about many towns now. The brick is all golden. |

We make a hike at Mont St. Regauld

A fresh water spring known for it's healing qualities. But then why so many crosses? |
 |
This snake appeared just to prove me wrong after telling Micah at least 10 times that we would not see any snakes. What are the chances? |
 |
Cool tower at the top of the highest mountain in the Beaujolais region. We drove up most of it, hiked maybe a km. |

Heading to Chamonix

Had to include a picture of the Euro tunnel |
 |
First glimpse of Mont Blanc |
 |
I think we picked the busiest day of the busiest time of year in Chamonix. There was an ultra-marathon going on. Everything was ridiculously commercialized and overpriced. We'll be back in the off season. It was about a 2.5 hour drive. |

Shout out to the Mousseaus |

Shout out to Logan |

It's a marmot. I thought it was a beaver therefore a shout out to Joe Wheaton and Nick Bouwes |

L'hotel de Samoens
I loved this town. It was around the bend from Chamonix, quiet and spectacular. |

Shout out to the Scrabblers |
We did an amazing hike just past Samoens in a nature reserve called the Cirque du Fer a Cheval. The pictures of course don't do it justice. Just over the 2000ft cliffs is Switzerland.

Back at the Sunday market. |
I love your blog! Thanks for making it! My sister lived in Italy when Finnegan was born an would send him these adorable blue stripped swim suits like Bob's…I loved them on little Finnegan! That is funny that they made them change! Your place looks great (minus the loud stairs). I hope you are all settling in and enjoying your time before school starts. It's odd to not see you out and about…a car like yours will drive by and I will think it is you, but then I remember you are off on an adventure. Hugs from Utah
