Salut!
We arrived safely in France after many hours of travel. I am going to withhold any serious blogging until my brain catches up with me. I wasn't expecting to be so destroyed by jet lag. It has made my already pathetic knowledge of French pretty much inaccessible.
I will say that our house and hosts have already exceeded expectations, though the house is old and time will only tell whether it's as lovely as it seems. We are living on a 2 acre property with two couples, the husbands of which are brothers. Our house lies between their houses in a well flowered and fruit treed garden. There is a resident German Shepard by the name of Elliot that has been waiting at the door to play with boys every morning.
We have been walking around the town, buying lots of food (cheese), eating lots of food (cheese and bread) and drinking lots of wine. Seriously. Sleeping is a nightmare but not because the beds are uncomfortable but because it's pretty much time to wake up in America when we are trying to go to bed here.
The internet makes it seem like we are not in another world when we are at the house. But really we are the only English speakers around. People do not really speak English. So. We learn French.
More soon. I am le tired. Here are a few pix. Bob has more and I would like to take some of the inside of the house as well.
J'adore! Continuer, svp. And, scandalous, a market open on Sunday!
