Cassis et les Llamas

No time to waste, don't let the door hit you Pops, good luck with the boys Bob, I'm off to the Cote d'Azur with Elodie. I returned to Cassis for one night tagging along Elodie's work conference for tourism purposes. Cassis is where I went with Teva and Andy on the one day a year that it rains there. This time there was one day of sunshine. The second day it rained again, I'm not sure that I believe the locals anymore about how it never rains there. I was able to hike the Calanques, a natural park along the ocean just behind the University of Marseilles. In typical fashion, I pushed my limits and could well have met my demise. When will I ever learn?
I managed to score a free dinner with Elodie's conference folks, the bad news was that it was at the same crappy restaurant Teva, Andy and I went to the first night we were there. But the company was good and very interesting, and again, it was gratuit.

Elodie rented a car to make the 3+ hour trip south. To her delight she
scored a Fiat 500. Great for tooling around town, not so much
for the autoroute.
After much traffic and a long drive we arrived. Elodie went to the conference. I went to explore.

A very vague map warning not to get lost.....

At this point I think that I'm heading to the beach
for a nice day of relaxing

My route was altered by a Canadian family
that I wanted to part ways with so I took
the high road thinking I would find the next
beach.

Spectacular

At this point it becomes obvious that I am going up
and not down to the sea. The only swim option was sketchy at best
and me being solo, I chose up.
Can you see the handles to climb with...

and up

This is what one calls class 5 climbing
i.e. hands and feet required
not a big deal if you're roped in..

Well, here's the best picture of the view I got
before my phone died. At least I didn't
Some people never learn.
I never did get to the water.
