Provencewards

Alors! When we last left you we were heading into Provence (just north of the South of France) for Easter weekend. We rented a fabulous Gîte, which tanslates into a guest house, just outside of Apt. This area is full cities and places to explore. We went to Colorado de Provence, which in fact resembles Southern Utah more than Colorado I think, though I haven't seen much of Colorado. We also visited la Fountaine-de-Vaulcluse, Lacoste, Buoux (perhaps the favorite) and Rousillion (a close second).  As this is the first of 3 posts that I would like to put up immediately, I am going to let the pictures tell the story.

Cairn building isn't just an American phenomenon
(or is it?)

I see a little silhouette of a man..

As I said..

Trés beau!

The Easter bells flew past returning from Rome and left chocolate eggs
in their wake.

For you succulent lovers

Luck would have it, there was a Canadian/New Zealander
expat couple and their kid staying at the Gîte as well.

And their scary dog

Even walled cities sport cute cats

and cute kids

Buoux

We sort of accidentally stumbled across this area at the end of a long day. I wanted to check it out because it is a climbing area (look closely at this first picture for the climbers). What we found was an ancient fortress at the top of a mountain that was truly spectacular.  There was a lot of work going on to renovate. This whole area continued to remind us of Southern Utah.

(it was so nicely done I had to take photos)

This is when we discovered you can buy do it yourself

sigh..it's going to be hard to go back
